Active Volcanism & Continental Rifting (AVCoR)

with special focus on the Kivu Rift Zone

AVCoR-2013 is a conference which was organized in Gisenyi (Rwanda, November 12-14, 2013) by the Ministry of Infrastructure (Energy Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA, Rwanda)), the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA, Belgium), the European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (ECGS, Luxembourg), the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH, Luxembourg), and the Goma Volcanologic Observatory (OVG, Republic Democratic of Congo).

This workshop intended to gather together scientists from different disciplines (geology, geography, volcanology, geodesy, geodynamics, seismology…) to share their knowledge and discuss the complex relationships between continental rifting and magmatism, as well as the potential impact on societies.
